My Mountain Man

Heating up the house has turned into an adventure. First we have to chop a dead tree down. We have since purchased a chainsaw since this picture. ;0)

After the tree gets chopped, my beloved has to split the wood into smaller pieces.

After splitting wood for a few hours, a break was needed. I love seeing him dressed in winter outfits. He even grew his facial hair to match the task.;0)

The job is very rewarding, and we all benefit it from it. ;0)

I decided to check your blog after not having done so for a while. You're back! I'm glad.

They say firewood heats you three times- cutting, stacking and burning. They forgot the part about hauling into the house from the woodpile out back!

We have a mini-chainsaw(actually a tree limb cutter) that I use on occasion, but our chainsaw is much too heavy for me to handle.

I usually add some of the sawdust from our wood cutting projects to our compost pile. Some of the ashes too, but not too much.

Shereen, are you living in Idaho now? Such contrast to Florida life! Wow --- especially this winter. I hope you are doing well and are enjoying the PNW. I'm wondering where you are? Not far, perhaps?
