Sew Crafty Friday

*I actually posted two posts this morning. You can scroll down under this post to read them. ;0)
I know you all are probably tired of hearing about my binder. Sorry, but this is just about the only thing crafty thing that has been getting done around here lately. ;0) Excuse the fabric on my binder, as I went to my friend's house, and this was the only fabric she had. Her fabric stash is back in her home in another state. We used this just as a tester. She just whipped up the pattern in her head. It came out perfect.

It came out nice and snug.

I would like to put a nice fun fabric on it, now that I have a pattern to work off of. Britney liked these fabrics, but I'm not sure if they are too loud. ;0)

So tell me, what have you done lately? You could share anything that you have sewed, knitted, crocheted, scrapbooked, etc. We like to see it all!! Just leave your blog linked up in the Mr. Linky below. Leave a quick one sentence blurb on your blog leading people back here. The only reason I ask you to link back here is so that others may possibly be able to join. The more the merrier. If you don't have a blog, or are making it as a gift for someone, just email me your pictures, and I will post them here. Happy Crafting!!

Raw Strawberry Shortcake Video Recipe

Here is a video of the recipe that I followed to make my friend's raw strawberry shortcake. It really was quite tastey. The first picture that they show of the cake on the video doesn't look that great. The only thing different that I did, was not to mix it. I put the "cake" part on the bottom of a bowl, and I layered the strawberry mixture on top. She was REALLY, REALLY happy with it. You can mute the music if you want, as the ingredients are typed up on the screen. You won't miss any talking. ;0)

Palm Fronds

I didn't know the names of these until after we experienced our first hurricane down here. Our community was saying to put all the palm fronds in front of the house on a specific day. I wondered, "what are palm fronds." It's just a fancy name for the leaves of the palms. lol Anyway, palm fronds are very strong; even when they are completely brown and they look seemingly dead. You can't just pull them off of the palm tree like you would pull off any brown dead leaf off of any other tree. When the palm fronds are hanging down like this, our children, and apparently my beloved like to swing from them.

Here is Elijah. With my beloved's help, I think he gets the best swinging out of it. ;0)

Here is Micah. I was scared he was going to bang right into the trunk of the tree. lol

And of course my beloved couldn't help but just try.

See, I told you they were strong. ;0) It's still hanging out there. I might have to give it a try today.

Sew Crafty Friday

This week was another busy week, so I figured I would share this. It might not be too crafty, but I figured it was better than nothing. This is the temporary cover to my home binder. The reason I say temporary, is because my friend sews really well without patterns. I helped her this week make her own binder. She said we can make a removable fabric cover, like that if it gets dirty we can just throw it in the wash. For now I have a paper one, which isn't holding up too well, with all the moving I do with it. I use it a lot throughout the day.

This is my daily to do's section.

I put my daily chores in sheet protectors.
This gives me the ability to cross off what has gotten accomplished throughout the day or week.

At the end of the day I just erase the markings, and I'm able to use it again the following day. It saves paper, because I don't have to keep printing up a new sheet every day.

I really enjoyed looking through all your projects last week, bathing suits, etc. You ladies are so creative!!

;0)

And you thought this only happened in school bathrooms?

Nope, finding wadded up toilet paper stuck to the ceiling happens in homeschool bathrooms as well.
Miss you!! I've had my friend here this week as well. The friend that has been coming over during the last couple of weeks and the friend that only eats raw food are one in the same. ;0) This past Tuesday was her birthday, and I found a recipe for a raw cake. I will share it in the next post.

Sew Crafty Friday

*I'm looking for something crafty to share, as my week was full, and I didn't get a chance to do anything this week.* I'll be back as soon as I find something. ;0)

Covering Our Husbands....

in prayer. Once again I had plans to get the blog started up again this week, but the Lord had other plans for me. We(my beloved and I)have been helping a friend and her child. Their husband/father has left them for someone else. I wanted to ask you to please take a moment today, if you can, and cover your beloved in prayer. Not only today, but every day. This isn't new. The enemy has been attacking families and marriages for a while now. It doesn't matter whether you go to church or not, families are being destroyed. This isn't the first time I have seen a home broken up because of infidelity/divorce. It is heart wrenching. Now I know why the Bible says that God hates divorce.
On a lighter note, the child slept over last night. The child has also been here for the last few days during the week. The child is also homeschooled. Shhh...Don't tell my beloved, but having 5 children in the house isn't as hard as I thought. lol ;0) *Hi, honey!! I love you!!*
So I know I didn't get a chance to blog this week, but that's okay. I have been giving my days to the Lord, and asking Him to please guide me. So I am confident in knowing that this is what He would have me do this week.
This friend is also the one who helped me with my one and only sewing lesson and then ended up moving. Now I can attempt some harder outfits, and if I get stuck, I have someone to ask. ;0)

Sew Crafty Friday

I wanted to share the dividers that I made for my home management binder. I hope this counts as crafty, as this is all I did. ;0) For some of the dividers I was able to use a font that coincided with the tab. For example, in the budget section I was able to use a font with purses. For the meal planning I used a font of pots and pans, etc. Sorry for all the pictures. If anyone is interested, I will post more about the binder for next week.

My daily to do's is in a sheet projector, as I use a dry erase marker to mark off what I have done. At the end of the day I just erase the marks on it. I like the little brooms in this font. ;0)

Raw Foodism

I'm not sure if I mentioned it on here or not, but I have been trying to eat more and more raw food. As you can see, I can fruits without a problem. I need some sort of protein with my fruit, if not it feels too sugary. I have been eating a piece of toast with some sort of nut butter on it, like almond butter, peanut butter, cashew butter, etc.

I realized that plain nuts, seem to help reduce that sugary feeling as well, so I might be able to cut the bread out.

When I am done with my meal I feel very full. However, eating more raw foods like this for 3 or 4 days, I lost 4 pounds. I don't mind losing a little weight, but I'm scared I will continue to drop weight. I only know of one raw foodist, who changed over to a raw diet to overcome breast cancer(well, it was the Lord, you know what I mean) and she lost a lot of weight. Does anyone know of a way to incorporate more raw foods into your diet without losing weight.

My next step is to eat more raw veggies. I purchased a book, and it has a few recipes which I would like to try out. You can make soups with your blender and the raw veggies. You can heat it up to 105 degrees, and it's still considered raw. The enzymes are still alive at that point. Does anyone eat lots of raw veggies?

I also learned that there is a difference between raw food and living food. When you eat food within 2 hours of it being harvested, it is still considered to be alive, and all the enzymes in the food are still alive, thus making it a lot more nutritious.

I have been trying to grow more veggies in my garden that I can just pick and eat right away.....

lettuce is one of the quick easy ones. ;0)

Out of busyness...probably should write, laziness, I never got a chance to pull that lanky pepper plant that I showed before. Now I'm sort of happy I didn't, as there are lots of peppers growing on it now.
The broccoli never grew. Whenever we got a day or two of cold(5o or 60 degree weather) the broccoli would start to grow. However, as soon as our weather went back to normal, the broccoli went to seed. ;0( The plant has grown considerably, taking up about 4 squares, but no broccoli is to be seen.

The Surprise Was A Success

Okay, this is the surprise that I was working on. My beloved was gone all last week at a training in California. For safety reasons, I didn't want to mention it to the world that he was gone last week. ;0) He has been traveling a lot lately, which has probably contributed to my absence here. I didn't realize how much he did, until he was gone. I was doing both my duties and his. The overnight travel is finally over....at least for now. He was gone for 6 whole days. It felt SO long. In 18 years of being attached at the hip, aside from the missionary trip he went on with Kayla to Peru, this was the longest amount of time we've been apart. It stunk. I decided to try and keep busy while he was away by painting our bedroom.
You see, we recently(last year) furnished our house. The one room we did not buy furniture for, was our bedroom. We figured we would paint, etc, before getting the furniture in here. It has been almost a full year. My beloved and I really liked the canopy beds, or the tall posts. I think they are a little girly(YAY), or I guess I can say they are sort of romantic, lol, so I decided to make the colors in the room sort of manly. I think it will be kind of nice to feel girly in a manly room. ;0) Anyway, I chose gray for the walls. This is a before picture. Go figure, the one picture I took, is the corner of the room that had the filthiest walls. The walls were primed, so the dirt was almost impossible to take off without repriming. There was a little table here, and I didn't realize how dirty the wall was getting back there.

Here is the after. I painted the top half light gray, and the bottom half a darker gray. I installed some chair rails. For the first time ever, I installed casing. I put casing and some rosettes around the windows. If you look at the before picture, you can see the window was plain. You can click to enlarge the picture.

I did casing on all the windows. Here are two more.

There is no door into our bathroom. Well, inside the bathroom there is a door to where the toilet is, but there is only a doorway into the bathroom itself. Weird, I know. I put some casing around the doorway as well. I still need to finish painting the baseboards. ;0) I know it doesn't look like it too much in the pictures, but there is a good color difference in the top and bottom shades.

The last thing I did casing on was the closet door. The casing is very addicting. It completely transforms a room Now when I walk around my house, it feels like the laundry closet door...the linen closet, etc. are all screaming for casings. lol
My beloved was very, very happy with it. He was ready to go buy furniture right away.
