Organizing

Just stopping by to say hello. Things should be getting back to normal this week. Britney went for an evaluation last week with her new neurodevelopmentalist, so we got a new set of therapy activities to do with her. Even though we greatly miss her old one, it's kind of exciting to have a new set of eyes evaluating her. Each ND prescribes different activities, as they sort of each have their own style, so to speak. For example, for fine motor skills, Britney will be decorating "cookies" with an icing bag, which will force her to use those noodle like fingers of hers to squeeze the "icing" out. I was told to use cream cheese with food coloring, so we can just refrigerate and reuse over and over. Being that we won't be eating it, we might try it. I have to figure out what to make the "cookies" out of, so that we can reuse them every day. We will also be switching her from a righty to a lefty. Even though she writes with her right hand, she's left eared and left footed. So if I hand her a telephone, she'll put it to her left ear. Or if I ask her to kick a ball, she'll use her left foot. We function better as people if we are all one sided, all right, or all left. She seems to be mixed. We're hoping that with this change of handedness, a lot of things will click and fall into place. Hear reading was great, she came in at 6 grade for reading comprehension and word recognition. YAY!! for Britney. ;0)

I also went on a mission to organize and overhaul our entire homeschooling system.. I have been praying, scheduling, laminating, rescheduling, cutting, rescheduling, dividing chores and zones, and rescheduling. Did I mention I have been scheduling and rescheduling our days? lol

I have so many things that I want to share, things that have been happening, things that I have been working on, etc. I wrote them down so I won't forget. I have also been taking pictures as I go along. I realized the other day that I have over 2,000 photos on my macbook that I need to back up and delete.

Some of things that I started and then I decided not to go with.

We went back to our chorepacks. Gotta love them.

Here are 3 out of the 4 workbox systems we have in place.

I couldn't help but post this picture of Kayla. She is normally the one behind the camera taking pictures when we're together as a family. *sigh* She's gone and grown up on me. ;0) We're all getting a little paler without that southern sun. lol

Apparently my beloved didn't think all that scheduling and rescheduling was good enough. Look what I found on the board. lol I got a big smooch while numerous children called out, "romance caught." I'm not sure who started that phrase.

Hi Shereen! I saw your comment today at the Sparrow's Nest and wanted to pop over here. I have been out of the blogosphere for awhile, so glad to see you. You are no longer in Florida...where did you move to? How long ago? We moved 4 years ago from Oregon to Idaho so I understand about adjusting to the changes.
God bless you.

The cookie decorating sounds like great therapy for her hands! What a great way to look at the therapist changes and see that each has ideas to contribute.

Love the "romance time" and "romance caught" too funny!

Where did you get your workbox system? I love those colorful columns of boxes. So much more fun than my clear boxes!
